Eagle CAD is a good choice for electric schematics and PCB (Print Circuit Board). The manufacturer also provides free license for non-profit activities, placing limits that certainly are not real constraints for hobby activities. In this tutorial the main features, focusing on those that are most useful for hobbyists, will be explained. 
In particular, it will be explained how to make a schematic and then how to make the PCB out of it. Finally, a way to change the standard libraries to fit your application, will be shown.
